SCALLA 2004 Conference Summary Now Available
Sharing Capability
in Localisation and
Human Language Technologies
This is a "get-in-touch and keep-in-touch" project funded by the European Union within the Asia IT&C programme under grant ASI/B7-301/97/0126-05. The project is also known under the acronym SCiLaHLT.
This project is concerned with helping Asia IT&C projects deliver their web content in local languages. For a full set of the project objectives, click here. To this end we are :
running three project working conferences involving experts from both South Asia and Europe,
- SCALLA2001 in Bangalore on 21st to 23rd November 2001
- SCALLA2002 in Europe - Three conferences in which we participated:
- in April 2003, running a workshop at EACL2003.
- SCALLA 2004, in Kathmandou, Nepal, on 5th-7th January 2004.
arranging other travel of experts between South Asia and Europe, to visit a number of conferences and research groups.
setting up a set of resources to help organisations localise their web pages.
running an advice clinic concerning localisation.
The project has produced a number of reports that are accessible via the activities above, but can also be located through the project’s reports page.
