| Abstract | This paper is based on a report drafted on state of art of the situation of Human Language Technologies (HLT) for Arabic and initiated by the MEDAR project (www.medar.org) and completed by December 2008. This is the second report in a series that started within the work carried out by the NEMLAR project. This paper aims at describing the work done with respect to surveying existing institutions and experts involved in the development of Arabic Language Resources carried out in 2008 (since the first report of NEMLAR). Although MEDAR focuses on tools related to Machine Translation and Information Retrieval, the ultimate goal is to draw an accurate knowledge base of the language technology players, the ongoing projects and products. |
