Within the EU FP7 MEDAR project (2008-2010) addressing international cooperation with the Arabic region on Human Language Technology (HLT), a survey on HLT for Arabic was conducted and concluded by a deliverable.

The 2nd international conference on Arabic Resources and Tools organised by MEDAR took place in Cairo, on April 22-23, 2009.
